Ethan Page Wins Intercontinental Title on WWE Raw

Ethan Page beat Chad Gable in the opening match of WWE Raw in Brooklyn to win the Intercontinental Championship, ending a reign that began at SummerSlam.

There’s a new Intercontinental Champion.

Ethan Page beat Chad Gable to win the title in the opening match of Monday’s WWE Raw at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Gable had held the championship since beating Penta at SummerSlam in August.

Page has been open about wanting the Intercontinental Title, and he had to survive a lot to get it.

Gable leaned on his amateur wrestling to control the early going. Page turned it around by going after Gable’s neck and upper back, driving him into the turnbuckles and hitting elbows, neckbreakers and a DDT.

Gable fought back by targeting Page’s leg. He slammed it into the ring post and hit a string of dragon screws, then followed with back-to-back German suplexes and an ankle lock. Page made it to the ropes.

The match spilled outside, where Gable hit an Olympic Slam onto the announce table. Back in the ring, he landed a moonsault for a near fall.

The near falls kept coming. Gable hit an overhead belly-to-belly superplex and Chaos Theory, and Page answered with a cutter and a powerslam off the turnbuckles. Neither man could put the other away.

Gable looked to have it won when he locked in another ankle lock. Page sent him into the turnbuckles, rolled through and hit the Egoplex for the three-count.
