JBL has reflected on working with Eddie Guerrero.

The APA recently had an interview with Chris Van Vliet. They talked about things such as how their tag team was formed, Ron Simmons winning the WCW World Title at a house show, the famous bar fight segment and more.

During the talk, JBL was also asked if he had a favorite Eddie Guerrero story. The former WWE Champion recalled how Eddie used to call him with ideas all the time, including one time Guerrero called him at 2 in the morning:

Oh my God, he used to call me all the time. Eddie loved the JBL character. He called me one time, it’s like 2 o’clock in the morning. ‘Ese, I got something for you.’ He’s a groomsman in my wedding. Ron was my best man, and Eddie was a groomsman in my wedding with Undertaker, a bunch of other guys.

You’re Gonna Get Me Killed: JBL

JBL mentioned how Eddie came up with many other ideas that helped shape his heel character, including the segment where he gave a heart attack to Guerrero’s mother:

And I go, what is it? He goes, ‘Tell them my ancestors come over here in a boat, not an inner tube.’ I said, ‘Eddie, you’re gonna get me killed. You’re actually gonna get me killed.’ He goes, ‘No, no, no, good stuff, good stuff, good stuff.’

Eddie used to give me the craziest stuff. He came up with the idea of the throwing the guy back across the border. That was Eddie’s idea. Eddie came up with the idea of his mother having a heart attack in El Paso.

The WWE Hall of Famer mentioned that they had extra state troopers placed around the ring for the last segment in El Paso, and he had to drive in his ring gear to get out of the town quickly afterward.

JBL revealed that he wasn’t booked for the show when the company went back there two years later because officials feared that something would happen to him.
