JBL provides an update.
The broadcast status of the AAA Worlds Collide event from Chicago has unexpectedly become a mystery. Fan intrigue has peaked after WWE added CM Punk to the lineup of the show taking place only a few miles from the All Out PPV on the same day. There have been conflicting reports however, about whether or not the show will be broadcasted live on YouTube like other AAA events.
During the latest episode of Something To Wrestle, JBL, who does English commentary for AAA shows revealed his status for the show. The WWE Hall of Famer confirmed that announcers are not being brought in for the Worlds Collide event:
I’m not going to be there. We’re going to call it post fact. I’m not going to be there. They asked if I would come in, I said, ‘Absolutely, I’d be happy to.’ But they’re not bringing in announcers.
Things Have Changed So Much: JBL
When asked if he knew if the show will be broadcasted at all, JBL revealed that he had been asked to be part of the show in Chicago at one point, but things have changed since then:
I don’t know. Things have changed so much. They called me two or three weeks ago and said, ‘Would you mind coming in?’ I said, ‘I’d be happy to.’ I know most things are remote in Mexico.
I told them I’d be happy to come to Chicago, but things changed. What they told us initially, this was a few weeks ago, is that we would probably voice it over next week. They may have changed that since, I don’t know.
The latest comments from the former WWE Champion confirm that the company is not planning to broadcast the upcoming show live and at least the current plan is to air the show at a later date.
The AAA Worlds Collide event will see CM Punk teaming with Rey Mysterio, and El Grande Americano to face Omos, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh. Punk has teased bringing back his Straight Edge Society mask and The Fire Burns theme for the event.
