JBL had a pointed way of describing the election shake-up in Texas, turning to an international comparison to make his point.
In his first post on X, JBL jokingly asked whether he would still receive a promised $5,000 check following the election results – but only if Republicans won.
It was a reference to President Trump’s announcement in September that he would issue a $5,000 dividend check to every American if Republicans maintained control of both chambers of Congress in the midterms.
As the Democrats take control of the House and Senate, that’s apparently not going to happen.
Does this mean I don’t get my $5,000 check?
Based on the description of his second post, the WWE Hall of Famer’s reference to regime change in Iran appeared to be a sarcastic nod to Democrats winning several major races in his home state.
I’m not sure if we get regime change in Iran, I know for sure we just got it in Texas.
Gina Hinojosa defeated incumbent Greg Abbott in the governor’s race, while James Talarico beat Ken Paxton for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Nathan Johnson also won the attorney general’s race, adding to a remarkable night for Texas Democrats.
Hinojosa’s victory carries particular significance. She will become the first Democrat to serve as Texas governor since Ann Richards, whose term ended in 1995. Abbott conceded after falling short in his attempt to secure another term.
That political turnover appears to explain JBL’s comparison. His reference to Iran reads as a sarcastic way of describing the change in leadership unfolding much closer to home.
