Lady Frost is on the hunt for Major League Wrestling gold as the fighter’s run with the company begins to heat up. The well-traveled performer has worked for many promotions including TNA, AEW, and Ring of Honor. For the athlete, timing is everything with the opportunity coming to join MLW perfectly aligning where she sees her career.
I think I’ve been the most excited to work with MLW,” she said. “Our women’s division is really ramping up. Of course, they just did get the best acquisition in Lady Frost, but we have great partnerships. With Stardom, CMLL, and obviously I’ve worked with CMLL for almost the past five years, so I think it’s just a really good fit creatively, professionally, and I’m really excited to see what’s next.
Frost feels rejuvenated, ready to prove herself in MLW’s growing women’s division. Despite working for almost a decade and bringing experience she never stops learning. The driven talent is always striving to become a better version of herself. By the same token, Frost believes she has earned everything accomplished.
I’m not waiting around for opportunities. You saw that on my debut on Saturday,” Frost. “Shotzi and Scarlett were having their own discussion about the title, and then I made myself known, my presence known, and that’s where my eye is right now, because I know that I am deserving of that top spot.
The new signing has enjoyed her time thus far in MLW. She remarked on the collaborative environment. OUt of the gate, it has been so far so good.
“I don’t think there has really been any pushback in any direction,” she said. “It’s just what I want to create…Yeah, I do feel that way. I think it was a great decision [signing with MLW.’ It’s a pivot that I wanted to make. They wasted no time. I love that. They believed in me from the start and it’s exciting when someone’s excited about you, right? They showed so much interest, and that’s very important, because you have to go somewhere that they value you. So, the partnerships are obviously a huge upside. Like I said, I was working with CMLL, but now we’re directly in partnership with them and stardom, which is crazy. I’m very, very excited about that, and Japan’s definitely been on the list. So, yeah, it’s definitely a great fit. No regrets at all.”
Frost has made a name for herself not only for what she can do in the ring, but her overall presentation. She also goes above and beyond, even investing in whatever vision she feels inspired to lean into.
Even with photoshoots. Like, I just did one with a wolf,” Frost explained. “With the amount of people that were like, “Oh, I thought that was AI or a dog.” I’m like, “No, I’m with my kind right now. It was an incredible shoot. It was a lot of fun. Who gets to say they’re standing next to a live wolf and petting a wolf. So, yeah, I think the direction has just been pretty clear in my mind, and they were very accepting when I came on board and just said, “This is what I want to present, this is who I want to be. So it has been great. Creatively, it’s only gonna get better.”
The wrestler describes her overall look as gritty. Frost found a balance between grounded in reality with almost mythological elements. A visual she pulls from life at different points, overcoming hardship.
I’m trying to pull from what I have experience-wise as a person and a wrestler over the years, and a lot of that is a struggle, and it feels like a fight, it feels like a hunt,” Frost explained. “You know, being in the empty woods for me, I always equated that to when I was living out of my car at 18, and had to fight for survival. .So it feels like it was the middle of winter, it was dark, it was cold, it was lonely, and it’s kind of like you don’t have a choice.”
She continued: “You just have to survive, and that’s real life for me. So I’ve kind of been drawing from more of those emotions. I still watch movies, shows, and take notes. I think it’s very important to gather from different areas and not just pull from wrestling or pop culture or things that maybe people are super familiar with. I think it’s a little easier for me to have it be personal and still turn it into character work, if that makes sense.”
Overall, Frost believes there has been a shift where the joy was brought back to independent wrestling. That was evident when she squared off with Steph De Lander in New Jersey. Their fight poured into the Atlantic Ocean.
“It’s just not about cool spots and moves and things like that. I mean, those are cool spots, but I think they’re moments over moves,” Frost said. “And you know me, I love some good moves. I love some lucha, but it’s good to just go back and perform and enjoy the art that is wrestling, because it’s so many things. It really is a blank canvas, and we get to create something new every time we step out there, so that’s been kind of reinvigorating for me for sure.”
Beyond her own aspirations, Frost takes pride in helping others. It’s a responsibility she doesn’t take lightly.
Feeling like I’ll go now back to indie shows, and I’m like, “Holy cow, I’ve been doing this for almost a decade. And I don’t even know that I feel like a vet most times,” Frost said. “But I’ll experience a lot of things and be like, “Oh yeah, I’ve been there, done that quite a few times.” But I am excited for the division. I think we have a lot of very, very talented athletes coming in.
“You’re seeing that more and more with all the females. I think that I still wrestle like an 18 year old. I can still go, I can still keep up, but I have all of the knowledge and experience and wisdom of someone that’s been doing this for 10 years. So I feel like I’m in a good spot there. I feel great physically, mentally. I think this was the best thing to happen in my career. I think there’s much more to come. But right now it’s been incredible to wrestle all of the new talent and MLW has a great women’s division building. So yeah, it’s only up from here…I always respect the women that want to fight for that spot even though I’m just going to take the top one. That’s how it has to be.
