Liv Morgan successfully defended the Women’s World Championship against Iyo Sky in the opening match of WWE SummerSlam Night 1 on Saturday night at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Morgan pinned Sky after a hard-fought contest lasting approximately 19:30. The finish saw Sky kick out of one Oblivion before Morgan connected with a Codebreaker and a second Oblivion for the three-count.

The match featured strong back-and-forth action, including Sky hitting a Spanish Fly and even using Morgan’s own Oblivion (which the champion kicked out of), plus a moonsault to the outside that cleared Judgment Day members Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez after their interference. The match was widely praised the bout as a strong opener with excellent pacing and near-falls.

Sky earned the title opportunity by winning the 2026 Queen of the Ring tournament, defeating Morgan in the final at Night of Champions in June before selecting the Women’s World Championship challenge.
