Logan Paul Defamation Lawsuit Heading To Federal Court

ByBishal RoyProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Logan Paul’s federal defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Coffeezilla is finally reaching a courtroom. Nearly two years after the WWE superstar filed the case, a hearing is now scheduled in a San Antonio federal courtroom, marking the first major procedural milestone in the long-running CryptoZoo dispute.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, both sides are expected to continue arguing their positions over the failed CryptoZoo cryptocurrency game when they appear in court. At the heart of the case is Paul’s claim that he was the victim of his own advisors, not the architect of a scam.

What The Lawsuit Alleges

Paul filed the suit in 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, naming Stephen Findeisen, better known as Coffeezilla, and his company, Coffee Break Productions LLC, as defendants. He is seeking actual and compensatory damages over $75,000, along with punitive damages.

The dispute centers on Coffeezilla’s December 2022 three-part YouTube series titled “Investigating Logan Paul’s Biggest Scam.” Paul’s legal team argues the videos falsely portrayed him as the architect of a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme while leaving out evidence that he was allegedly deceived by two key CryptoZoo advisors.

Court filings noted those advisors as Eddie Ibanez and Jake Greenbaum, known online as “Crypto King.” The lawsuit alleges both men secretly sold ZOO Tokens for their own profit and earned more than $1 million each, while Paul allegedly did not sell any ZOO Tokens himself. His attorneys say Paul ultimately lost more than $1 million on the project.

The Buyback And The Disputed Post

In January 2023, Paul announced a buyback program for CryptoZoo NFT holders and pledged up to $2.3 million of his own money. As per the court documents, the program concluded in March 2024 and distributed more than $1 million in Ethereum to eligible holders.

Despite that effort, the lawsuit claims Findeisen continued accusing Paul of fraud. One post cited in the filing was a June 2023 message on X:

Logan Paul really is the type of dude to thank you when you expose his scam, then block you when you remind him to pay up.

The upcoming hearing could be a step toward determining whether the case proceeds to trial or reaches another stage in the legal process.

Away from the courtroom, Paul has been dealing with his own recovery, having recently undergone surgery for a torn triceps and providing an encouraging update on his rehab.
