Mason Rook Opens Up About Losing Weight In WWE

Mason Rook is heading into the biggest match of his WWE career, but before challenging for the NXT Championship, he addressed the conversation surrounding his physique.

After becoming the No. 1 contender, Rook appeared on Busted Open Radio, where Bully Ray asked whether seeing wrestlers such as Bronson Reed transform their bodies had influenced his own thinking.

Rook explained that his size, appearance, and uniqueness helped get him to WWE, although he isn’t certain those qualities alone will be enough to establish him at the highest level.

So I think it’s all individual, specific to the person. However, obviously my size, my look, and my uniqueness are what got me to the dance. But now that I got to the dance, I don’t know if that is enough to keep me in the dance.

That brings up an interesting reality about WWE. Rook has watched wrestlers arrive in NXT before significantly changing their physiques, but he believes every wrestler has a different path.

I see Superstars who arrived in NXT or WWE a certain way. They arrive here, and then they have a transition period. But again, everyone is different.

Rook also admitted he would like to lose some weight, but doesn’t want that process to erase what makes him different.

Would I like to say I’d like to lose a few pounds? Of course. I’m not in denial about that. But again, my uniqueness and my style are what got me here, and I’d like to say that’s what will keep me here too.

Now, following his Triple Threat victory, Rook will challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship.

That match could ultimately show whether the look that helped Rook reach WWE can also take him to championship level.

Do you think Rook should maintain his current look, or would changing his physique help him reach another level?
