MJF has the second entry in the men’s Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In: London, and the man holding the first spot is expected back on television next week.
MJF defeated Nick Wayne and “Speedball” Mike Bailey in a three-way on the August 12 episode of Dynamite from The Palms in Las Vegas to claim the No. 2 slot. Andrade El Idolo already owns the No. 1 entry, meaning both men start the match together at Wembley Stadium.
Andrade wasn’t in the building. Fightful Select reported his absence was a scheduled week off rather than a health issue, and that he’s expected back for Dynamite and Collision starting next week to continue the angle with MJF.
AEW covered the absence on air instead. Excalibur told viewers during the qualifier that Andrade had not been cleared, a storyline framing that lines up neatly with the beating MJF gave him a week earlier.
How Andrade And MJF Ended Up Here
The split traces back to Forbidden Door, where Andrade turned on MJF and the Don Callis Family during the Death’s Door cage match against Team Briscoe. He walked off with MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring in the process.
At Grand Slam Mexico on August 5, Andrade beat Komander and Tommaso Ciampa at Arena México to win the first Casino Gauntlet spot. MJF returned moments later, attacked him from behind with his custom “Triple B” belt, reclaimed the ring and left Andrade bloodied.
Andrade posted days later that he hadn’t felt right since the show and went to a doctor after landing in Miami, having worked two Maple Leaf Pro tapings in Canada in between. He said he had to be “out of action for a few days or weeks” but described it as nothing serious, which the backstage update since supported.
What The Casino Gauntlet Is Worth
The winner gets a guaranteed AEW World Championship opportunity. Kenny Omega (c) defends that title against Will Ospreay on the same card, so the Gauntlet winner leaves with a claim on whoever walks out of London holding the belt.
MJF, who lost the world title to Omega in July, has spent his return carrying a personal “Triple B” title he insists is the real championship. After winning the qualifier he had Andrade’s entrance music played to bait the crowd, then promised he’d leave Wembley with the Casino Gauntlet.
AEW All In: London takes place Sunday, August 30, at Wembley Stadium.
