R-Truth Comments on Retirement: "This Could Be the Last One"

R-Truth addressed his future in wrestling during Saturday Night's Main Event, acknowledging that his current WWE contract could be his final run with the company.

I always like to say, I steal this from The Rock, I let pain in my body be my guide as far as when it's time for me to go," R-Truth said. "Right now, I still feel good — I've thought about it. As you know, I just renewed my deal, so it's like… this could be the last one. We all have to have that time. We all have to get off the ride at some point.

R-Truth's WWE Return

The 53-year-old veteran signed a special new WWE contract in June 2025 following a brief release that sparked massive fan outcry (rightfully so).

R-Truth returned at Money in the Bank just days after announcing his departure, with the new deal described as allowing him "one true final run" rather than a standard active talent contract.

R-Truth appeared at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13 dressed as "Ron Cena," delivering a heartfelt rap tribute before John Cena's final match. He later teamed with Joe Hendry to confront The Miz.

With 28 years in professional wrestling, R-Truth holds an impressive résumé including being the first African-American NWA World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time WWE United States Champion, and the record holder for WWE 24/7 Championship reigns at 54.
