Randy Orton kept a close eye on Cody Rhodes’ latest promo even when he was not in the building.
In a video posted on X, The Viper was watching Rhodes’ in-ring segment from this week’s episode of SmackDown, live at home. When the American Nightmare showed a photo of his bruised face from Orton punt kicking him at WrestleMania 42 and said that he won the match, Orton responded by saying:

The Apex Predator was referring to leaving Rhodes a mangled wreck even when he didn’t defeat him at WrestleMania. The rivalry was reignited when Randy Orton returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2026 and attacked Cody Rhodes, costing him a chance to regain the Undisputed WWE title.
The two met in a rematch at Sunday Night’s Main Event, where Orton defeated Rhodes in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. The rivalry will be settled in their upcoming rubber match at WWE Crown Jewel 2026.
However, this will be a Last Man Standing match. With no rules to enforce, both Orton and Rhodes are expected to destroy each other.
As their match at WWE Crown Jewel 2026 draws close, it will be interesting to see which WWE superstar emerges victorious.
