Reason Why Monty Brown Never Became TNA World Champion

ByAndrew RavensProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Jeff Jarrett has explained why Monty Brown never captured the TNA World Championship despite being one of the promotion’s most over babyfaces during its early years: his booking philosophy required multiple credible heel challengers to be in place before a babyface title reign could succeed.

Jarrett answered the question during a Reddit Q&A.

I did not feel that it was in his best interest to win the title because my booking philosophy for a babyface champion to succeed is that you need multiple heel challengers to go through in order to establish a meaningful babyface reign.

Brown competed in TNA from 2004 to 2006 and was one of the company’s most popular performers during that stretch. Fans widely viewed him as a future world champion, yet he departed before reaching the top position to pursue an unsuccessful run for political office in Michigan in 2006.
