NXT went all in on a spooky cinematic match at Halloween Havoc. Some people inside WWE reportedly wish it hadn’t.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said people who were at the show didn’t hold back about Naraku vs. Shiloh Hill.
By the way, I heard from some people there and it was interesting their comments to me because it was like their basic comment was, ‘Yeah, Shiloh Hill and NARAKU ruined that entire show.'
The match was advertised as the second bout on the card. Instead, Naraku attacked Hill backstage, and both men ended up misted. That kicked off a string of trippy cinematic segments that ran throughout the night.
Along the way, Hill and Naraku spoke with skeleton royal family members and brawled with other spooky creatures. They eventually ran into each other in a stone corridor, where a zombie referee ordered them to fight.
The brawl spilled through the Halloween Havoc gate at ringside. The two then had about two minutes of action in the ring, and Hill picked up the win over the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
Elsewhere, Hill has been selling T-shirts on the dark web. For the full lineup, see the Halloween Havoc card.
