The New Level Loses Trios Title At WrestleDream

The New Level’s championship reign has come to an end.

The team of Swerve Strickland, Austin Creed & Kofi defended the Trios title against Hangman Adam Page, Bandido, & Brody King in a 2-out-of-3 falls match at the WrestleDream PPV tonight. The champs picked up the first fall with Kofi pinning Bandido. The masked star then came back with a pin of his own on Austin Creed after Hangman took out Swerve with a Buckshot lariat outta nowhere.

The ending of the bout was a surprise one as Bandido attempted a 21-plex on Strickland but Swerve landed on his feet. The former AEW World Champion then went for the big pressure but Bandido managed to reverse it into a roll and he pinned Strickland to win the match and the title for his team.

Swerve couldn’t believe the result and he initially refused to let the referee touch the trios belts, telling his partners that the new champs didn’t deserve it. Kofi and Creed, however, emphasized that this is not how they do business. The New Level then hugged Brodido and handed over their belts. Swerve also held the title out for Page but he dropped it to the floor the moment Hangman reached for it.

This ends New Level’s reign with the AEW Trios Title after 48 days. They won the belts at All In London during their AEW debut. The loss and the subsequent drama also raises questions about their partnership with Swerve moving forward.
