TNA’s side of Tommy Dreamer’s departure is now emerging, and it directly contradicts how Dreamer framed his own exit.
According to a new report, sources inside the promotion say Dreamer held considerable control over who got pushed and was not interested in building new contenders.
The claim comes from False Finish, which reports that internal TNA sources view Dreamer’s public statements about his departure as inaccurate. Per the report, the belief within the company is that the booking and creative direction had not been working and that a change was needed.
Those same sources pointed to TNA operating on the bigger platform of AMC this year as a factor, with the expectation that the culture will change for the better moving forward.
How Dreamer Framed His Exit
The report is a contrast to Dreamer’s own account. When he announced the news on Busted Open Radio on June 17, an emotional Dreamer said he and TNA had “mutually agreed to part ways.” He highlighted that he held no ill will and wanted the company to succeed. TNA’s official statement described the move as part of a broader “workforce reduction.” The exit was first confirmed in the original departure announcement.
A Departure Under Debate
Dreamer’s exit has been a point of discussion. Fightful Select reported that Dreamer was well-liked by many. However, his creative ideas had faced criticism from several TNA talents in recent years.
At the same time, names like Matt Hardy and Nic Nemeth publicly praised Dreamer as both an agent and a person following his departure. TNA has since moved forward, with an update on the promotion’s new creative team reflecting the shift those internal sources described.
