There may now be a name attached to the two WWE wrestlers nobody has seen for months.
Fightful Select reports that Jordynne Grace and Ivy Nile are planned to return to television as a tag team. The idea was pitched earlier this year, work has been done on it, and vignettes were filmed over the summer with the hope of airing them in September.
Neither woman has been injured. The outlet was told both have simply been waiting on creative.
The name is the part to treat carefully. WWE sources believe the team is connected to the Iron Built trademark the company filed on September 10, though nothing has been confirmed. It would fit two wrestlers whose presentation is built entirely around strength.
False Finish reported on the pairing talks first, with Fightful Select confirming and expanding on it.
The absences have stretched on. Nile has not wrestled on Raw since March, when she was in a gauntlet match for a Women’s Intercontinental Championship opportunity that Bayley won. Grace was last on television in the build to WrestleMania 42, losing a Women’s United States Championship number one contender’s match to Tiffany Stratton. Both have kept working Main Event tapings, with Nile beating the since-released PJ Vasa on August 3 and Grace losing to Kiana James on June 12.
Grace also lost a WrestleMania 42 storyline to an ankle injury earlier in the year, and the SmackDown angle that was meant to follow never materialized.
The contracts sit in very different places. Fightful Select reports that Nile’s deal expires this fall, with October cited, while Grace has years left on hers after signing from TNA. The outlet reported earlier this month that plans for Nile had been developing for quite a while and would involve a big change for her.
