WWE Deletes Backstage Clash Between CM Punk And Grayson Waller

WWE briefly posted, then deleted, video of a backstage confrontation between CM Punk and Grayson Waller after Saturday’s NXT live event in Petersburg, Virginia. The clip showed Waller squaring up to Punk and warning him to stay off his turf.

In the footage, Waller told Punk, “Next time you want to come to my house, you call me and ask for permission. This is my house. You want to show up here? I’m getting the belt here and I’m coming for you.”

The exchange happened after Punk teamed with NXT Tag Team Champions Myles Borne and Tavion Heights to beat The Vanity Project in the August 15 main event, Punk’s first NXT in-ring appearance in over a decade. Vanity Project enforcer Myka Lockwood powerbombed Punk during the match, though it wasn’t enough to prevent the win.

WWE has not explained why the video came down. The company has leaned on this tactic before, posting and then quietly pulling backstage footage to blur the line between storyline and shoot.

Waller Set To Address Punk And Zilla Fatu On NXT

Waller is scheduled to appear on the August 18 episode of WWE NXT, where he’s expected to address both the Punk confrontation and newly signed talent Zilla Fatu, who Waller has already taken aim at following Fatu’s interference in his NXT title picture.

With Waller chasing Tony D’Angelo’s NXT Championship and now trading shots with two of the brand’s biggest current storylines at once, Tuesday’s show carries more weight than a typical go-home segment.
