Lola Vice looks to be the next name headed from NXT to the main roster.
Bryan Alvarez reported on X that the belief is Vice has been called up and will likely land on SmackDown. The timing lines up with her recent title losses, as the read from sources is that WWE stripping her of both the NXT Women’s Championship and the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship was clearing the decks for the move. She and Mr. Iguana dropped the AAA tag titles to La Hiedra and Laredo Kid at AAA Verano de Escándalo on Saturday, with La Hiedra pinning Vice.
Despite the reported call-up, Vice is still booked to challenge NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey in an Underground Match on the August 4 episode of NXT, days after SummerSlam weekend. That’s her specialty stipulation. Vice is undefeated in Underground matches, with wins over Natalya, Shayna Baszler, Jaida Parker, and Kelani Jordan, so it’s a strange final assignment for someone reportedly on her way out.
Vice signed with WWE in 2022 after a run in MMA and won the 2023 NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament. She captured her first NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver in April, beating Jacy Jayne and Grey in a three-way, before Grey took it back at the Great American Bash on June 28.
She’d be joining an increasingly crowded SmackDown roster that has already absorbed a wave of NXT graduates, including Trick Williams, Oba Femi, Je’Von Evans, and Ricky Saints. She’s also in a relationship with SmackDown’s Damian Priest, which would put the couple on the same brand.
