The Lola Vice vignettes have started. Monday’s Raw carried a teaser for an unnamed newcomer that appears to be Vice. The end of the package flashed September 14, the night Raw runs from Mexico City.
Every report before this pointed at SmackDown. Bryan Alvarez said in July that Vice was expected there alongside Damian Priest, her real-life partner. TRNBCKL reported last week that vignettes had been filmed without knowing which brand, and False Finish said they would air on SmackDown. A Raw vignette with a Raw date attached points the other way.
The numbers were always the argument for Raw. SmackDown carries around 17 active women. Raw has roughly 13, and that count includes Asuka and Bayley, neither of whom is currently appearing.
The date has its own logic. Vice spent much of the past year working for AAA, and after losing the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship with Mr. Iguana at Verano de Escándalo in July, she gave an interview describing what the run meant to her.
I knew that coming to Mexico was the only way I could regain my confidence and develop as a wrestler.
She has not been on WWE television since August 4, when Kendal Grey submitted her in an NXT Underground match for the NXT Women’s Championship. She gave a farewell promo to the crowd off air afterwards.
WWE has not confirmed that the vignette is Vice, named a brand, or announced a debut.
