CM Punk Won’t Be On Tonight’s WWE Backstage Premiere (Report)

CM Punk didn't get the role

Don’t expect to see CM Punk on tonight’s premiere episode of WWE Backstage on FS1. According to PWinsider, the former WWE Champion has not signed with Fox Sports and is not currently in Los Angeles, where the show takes place.

Speculation of a possible role for the former WWE Champion started when it was previously reported that Punk’s representative went to FOX to try to get him as a co-host of the new show.

Punk was at FOX Studios in September to discuss a potential on-air role for the show and did film test material for it as Young was also present for the meeting.

FOX brought in several WWE and non-WWE personalities this summer to try out for the show including the likes of Taz and WWE Hall of Famer Sean Waltman.

Punk had confirmed in various interviews to promote his latest film, Girl on the Floor, that he did film test material for the show but had not heard back regarding his chances at getting the role.

WWE Backstage, hosted by Renee Young and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, premieres on FOX Sports 1 tonight at 11 pm EST.
