Kofi Kingston Retains WWE Title At Stomping Grounds

Kofi Kingston has remained on top of the mountain in the WWE, and his reign as the WWE Champion continues.

Kingston did just that when he successfully beat Dolph Ziggler inside of a Steel Cage to remain as the WWE Champion, which serves as the top title on the SmackDown roster, at the WWE Stomping Grounds pay-per-view event in Tacoma, WA.

This was actually a rematch from the WWE Super Showdown pay-per-view event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia that saw Kingston win as well. The program was booked due to Kevin Owens, who was supposed to challenge Kingston for the strap at this show, not wanting to travel to the country.

With two straight wins over Ziggler, it appears that Kingston will be moving onto a new feud with a different star, potentially Owens.

Kingston’s reign started when he knocked off Daniel Bryan as the WWE Champion at the WWE WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event. This marks the first time that Kingston has held the WWE Title or a major World Title under the WWE banner for that matter.

What are your thoughts on Kingston retaining the WWE Title? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.
