Rhea Ripley: We Took Women’s Wrestling From ‘Toilet Breaks’ to Main Events

Rhea is proud of the evolution of women’s wrestling in WWE, highlighting the significant progress made in recent years. In a recent interview with Jazzys World TV, Ripley addressed the historical challenges faced by female performers in professional wrestling.

Ripley, a multi-time WWE Women’s World Champion believes that the biggest obstacle has been gaining respect and recognition within the industry. She specifically referenced how women’s matches were once dismissively labeled as “toilet breaks” by audiences, despite the performers’ dedication to their craft and desire to be viewed equally to their male counterparts.

The former champion pointed out that female wrestlers consistently demonstrate their ability to perform at the same level as their male counterparts, if not exceed it. This determination has played a crucial role in changing perceptions and elevating women’s wrestling to its current prominence, where female performers now regularly headline major events, including WrestleMania.

Currently, Ripley is sidelined indefinitely due to a broken orbital socket, having to relinquish her championship due to the injury.
