WWE Signs Top Prospect, 'Superstars' Beats 'ECW', Batista

WWE has signed Richie Steamboat, son of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, to a developmental contract. The son of the former NWA World Heavyweight Champion will be heading to Florida Championship Wrestling shortly to begin his progress towards WWE stardom.

Over the past two years, the elder Steamboat has been sending his son to areas all over the world to learn the art of wrestling including Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan, World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico and Harley Race’s wrestling academy in Eldon, Missouri. Richie was originally trained by longtime preliminary wrestler George South.

— This past week’s episode of WWE Superstars on WGN America scored an 0.9 cable rating with the replay doing an 0.15. The first showing did better numbers than ECW last week, which dropped to an all-time low 0.8 rating.

— The documentary portion of Batista: I Walk Alone will be airing on InDemand pay-per-view next month.
