John Cena spoke with Caller.com this week to promote Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Here are some highlights:
– He said the United States championship is finally getting the respect it deserves and truly is “the trophy of our country.”
– He talked about using the Springboard Stunner, which was obviously influenced by Stone Cold Steve Austin. He adopted the move because he needed to pull out something special against Rusev. “Believe it or not, with all my in-ring experience, I actually took back to the canvas, and practiced a little bit, had some fun; and that’s what I came up with.”
– The US Title Open Challenge is a way to give Superstars opportunity. He used Daniel Bryan as a ‘fantastic example’ of somebody who had the talent but had to go the extra mile to earn the breaks he deserved. Cena’s giving guys a chance to step up to the place, which raises the value of the title.
