WWE Using Unique Marketing Strategy To Promote House Shows

WWE’s latest attempt to boost attendance for house shows has surfaced online. This comes months after WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon had promised to “reimagine” live events on a conference call after a significant drop in ticket sales for these shows.

PWinsider reported on Monday that WWE is trying a new marketing technique to promote house shows. A reader sent word that they were attending a movie on Sunday in Pennsylvania when a localized advertisement aired on the screen before the previews of other movies.

In the ad, Braun Strowman cut a promo about coming to Wilkes-Barre. Typically, WWE doesn’t hype house shows on television but that has changed. WWE will hold live events in Japan on June 28th and June 29th at Ryogoku Kokugikan.

Asuka and Kairi Sane will face WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics in a non-title match at the event on June 28th. If Asuka and Sane get the win, they will become the #1 contenders for the titles and earn a future title shot. Here is the card for that show:

  • WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Triple H & AJ Styles & Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Drew McIntyre & Baron Corbin & Bobby Lashley & Samoa Joe
  • WWE RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics vs. Asuka & Kairi Sane – non-title match
  • WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins vs. The Revival (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson)
  • Braun Strowman vs. Robert Roode
  • Ricochet vs. Cesaro
