WWE has announced the first match taking place at the next special for NXT, which is NXT TakeOver: Toronto II.
WWE NXT Champion Adam Cole will make his next title defense against Johnny Gargano in a 2 of 3 Falls Rubber Match that will serve as the headliner of this show. This marks the third match between the top two NXT stars for the NXT Title in recent months.
WWE had NXT General Manager William Regal announce the news on Wednesday’s episode of NXT. This is where it was revealed that Gargano and Cole will announce their stipulations for the first two falls while the stipulation for the third fall will be chosen by Regal. Those three stipulations will be announced soon.
Cole beat Gargano to become the champion in the main event of WWE NXT TakeOver: XXV event in Bridgeport, CT on June 1st.
This was a rematch between them as Gargano beat Cole in a 2 out of 3 falls match to win the vacant title during the NXT TakeOver: New York event on WrestleMania 35 weekend.
WWE presents the NXT TakeOver: Toronto II special on Saturday, August 10, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario at the Scotiabank Arena that will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks.
