CM Punk Reflects on Injury and AJ Lee Ahead of 2025 Royal Rumble

CM Punk’s WWE return at the 2024 Royal Rumble was meant to be a triumphant moment, but resulted in the Best in the World suffering a torn triceps. Speaking with Jackie Redmond, Punk recalled feeling broken before informing his wife AJ Lee of the bad news.

“I gave myself a good eight-minute cry before I called my wife and told her, ‘Hey, I got hurt.’ I could cry for 45 minutes, and the instant I actually try to vocalize something like that to her, I’ll still blubber.”

Realizing how upset he was, AJ Lee made sure to comfort her husband, assuring him that this injury was just a temporary setback.

“She said, ‘Just come home, I’ll take care of you, we’ll get over it, we’ll get through it.’ That’s what we did. That’s what she does for me. Always has my back.”

Punk will be a part of this weekend’s 2025 Royal Rumble event, and hopes to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match for the first time. A victory would be a massive step for Punk towards headlining WrestleMania, another accolade the Best in the World has yet to reach. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on CM Punk’s future in WWE, as well as a potential return by AJ Lee.
