Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling has sold out Northern Rising, its October 3 pay-per-view at Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, roughly six days after tickets went on sale.
The promotion confirmed the sellout on August 6. Tickets for the show, staged at the venue formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens, went up July 31 at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster.ca.
That on-sale came one day after MLP revealed Adam Copeland would make his debut for the company at the event.
MLP wrote that the building will be “packed to the max Saturday, October 3rd to witness history unfold.”
Copeland’s First Match At The Gardens
Copeland was born and raised in Orangeville, Ontario, about an hour northwest of Toronto, and has never wrestled at Maple Leaf Gardens. Per MLP’s announcement, it’s the building where he attended his first wrestling show as a kid.
The 11-time world champion has listed the venue among his remaining dream buildings, alongside Arena Mexico, Wembley Stadium and the Tokyo Dome. F4WOnline noted the booking is also Copeland’s first for an independent promotion since 2001.
Scott D’Amore’s promotion has not announced any matches for Northern Rising. Copeland is set to appear in a series of vignettes on upcoming episodes of MLP Mayhem in the buildup.
What’s Next Before Toronto
Copeland has AEW business first. He and Christian Cage defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks at All In: London on August 30.
The four men were on opposite sides of an eight-man tag at Grand Slam Mexico on August 5, teaming against the Death Riders. Copeland took the pinfall for his team.
Northern Rising closes out the first 12-episode season of MLP Mayhem, which airs on TSN2 in Canada and on MyAEW internationally.
