AEW World Tag Team Champions Christian Cage and Adam Copeland will team with the Young Bucks against the Death Riders in an eight-man tag match at Grand Slam Mexico. Andrade El Idolo will also defend his spot in a three-way match against Tommaso Ciampa and Komander, with the number one entry into the Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In on the line. Both matches were confirmed on new graphics for the August 5 special, airing live from Arena Mexico in Mexico City on TBS and HBO Max.
Cage, Cope And The Young Bucks vs. Death Riders
The eight-man tag brings together two teams still working through their own issue. Cage and Copeland retained the tag titles against the Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli and PAC at Redemption, and the Young Bucks confronted the champions afterward, setting up a title match at All In on August 30 at Wembley Stadium.
The Death Riders gave both teams a reason to unite before then. Following Kenny Omega’s AEW World Championship defense at Redemption, the group attacked the champion, and the Young Bucks were laid out trying to make the save. The Death Riders side for Grand Slam Mexico is set as Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia and PAC.
Andrade El Idolo Defends Casino Gauntlet Spot
Andrade El Idolo won the AEW National Championship from Mark Davis at Redemption, then successfully defended it in a three-way against “Jungle” Jack Perry and Nick Wayne this week on Dynamite. His match against Ciampa and Komander at Grand Slam Mexico is non-title, with the winner earning the number one entry spot in the men’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In, a staggered-entry match that ends as soon as someone scores the first fall.
The match joins a growing card for AEW’s second Grand Slam Mexico, with more matches expected to be announced ahead of the show.
