WWE’s act of countering AEW events has become a reoccurring theme, with the next instance happening on August 30 as a tandem AAA-NXT show goes head-to-head with AEW All In. Next month, WWE x AAA Worlds Collide will then take place on the same night as AEW All Out. Both of these events will also emanate from the Chicago area.
While appearing on Unlikely With Adrian Hernandez, Darby Allin shared his take on WWE’s counterprogramming efforts. Rather than feeling frustrated, the former AEW World Champion noted that he plans to have some with fun it.
I love it,” he said. “I honestly feel like that’s when you do your best work. And it’s no secret that everybody does their best work when their back’s against the wall. I think it’s fun. My life doesn’t begin and end with wrestling. I have so much outside interests, hobbies, and passions that sometimes I just laugh at all this wrestling stuff because I’m like there’s a whole world out there. It’s just like, alright, man, whatever, but honestly, I feel like it’s going to be fun.
As of this writing, AEW has yet to announce a match for Allin at All In, which will take place from London’s Wembley Stadium. The pay-per-view will feature an AEW World Championship match between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay as well as an AEW Women’s Championship bout pitting Willow Nightingale against Mercedes Mone. Meanwhile, at NXT Heatwave, Tony D’Angelo is slated to defend his NXT Championship; NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey will put her title on the line against Kelani Jordan.
