AJ Styles gave his most detailed account yet of the situation surrounding criticism of his son Avery Styles, addressing it directly on a recent episode of The A.J. Styles Show.

“The promoter that was talking on the internet, at least he thought he was a promoter, was not the promoter of the show that my son was at. He was there to set up the ring. He got paid to do this with his crew.”

Styles Says He Checked The Story First

Styles said the criticism stemmed from a misunderstanding over who was actually responsible for ring setup duties at the show in question.

“I’ve never helped anybody, they’ve never asked me when I was paid to do a show for them, to help them set up. And furthermore, definitely a ring crew guy hasn’t said anything to me. I’m a dad. I’m going to defend my son when somebody else is wrong. And believe you me, I checked on this first before I said anything.”

The comments follow Styles’ initial response to the criticism of his son, which also drew reaction from Cody Rhodes and Lexis King. Avery Styles won his GCW debut in Omaha earlier this month.
