On the latest episode of The Hall of Fame, Booker T cleared up the long-standing question of whether Harlem Heat could have reunited in WWE after WCW closed, saying his brother Stevie Ray was at a different point in his life and that a reunion was never on the table. You can check out his comments below:
“After WCW shut down, my brother was in a different spot in his life — he’d just had a daughter. There was only one occasion I remember, as far as my brother coming to WWE: they wanted him to come in and get looked at, and my brother just wasn’t interested in coming in and getting looked at. That was the only talk between WWE and my brother. As far as tag team wrestling, that was behind me at that point. I was a singles wrestler. I wasn’t thinking about going back and doing tag team wrestling again. I was ready for something new, a new test, a new challenge — I wanted to see exactly how good I was as a singles competitor.”
“Putting the reunion back together and doing it all over again was never something that was discussed. At that point, I think I was past doing tag team wrestling — not that if an opportunity had come, I wouldn’t have done it, because Harlem Heat is near and dear to my heart, but I don’t think doing something like that would have been taking a step forward. And also, just about everybody who came from WCW had to have a tryout, had to get looked at — except me.”
