Haku made a surprise return on the July 31 episode of WWE SmackDown, aligning with his sons Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga just one night before SummerSlam.
The final go-home show before the pay-per-view featured a vignette in which Tama and Talla reflected on their decision to leave Solo Sikoa’s MFT stable, telling him they had lost focus on chasing championships and needed to put family first. Haku then appeared, delivering a message to his sons about their Tongan heritage and legacy.
“Haku with Tama and Talla Tonga! You are the sons of Haku, the motherf*cking Tongans!”
Title Vs. Title Match Ends In Chaos
Later in the show, WWE Tag Team Champions Damian Priest and R-Truth defended against AAA World Tag Team Champions The War Raiders in a champion versus champion match. The bout ended in a disqualification after the referee was shoved down attempting to regain control, and the four men continued brawling through the crowd once the bell sounded.
Tama and Talla Tonga, now billed as The MFTs, then stormed the ring and laid out all four men. Tama hit Erik with the Cut Throat while Talla chokeslammed Priest, and the brothers held up both sets of tag titles as Haku entered the ring to join them.
Tama and Talla had previously challenged for the WWE Tag Team Championship against Priest and R-Truth, who won the titles back in March. The brothers split from Sikoa on the June 26 episode of SmackDown, citing word from “the elders” after growing frustrated with his fixation on Roman Reigns.
Haku’s involvement positions him as an on-screen presence for the Tonga brothers as they push forward independent of Sikoa heading into SummerSlam weekend.
