Kendal Grey is medically cleared to return to WWE NXT. The former NXT Women’s Champion revealed the news on the October 13 episode, roughly six weeks after vertigo and a vestibular system disruption pulled her off television.
Grey surfaced backstage while Wren Sinclair was trading words with Myles Borne. She told Sinclair she was confident her best friend would be the next NXT Women’s Champion at Halloween Havoc, asked why Sinclair had kept her battle royal plan secret, and then dropped the clearance news. Grey said she wants the title back with the WrenQCC.
The timing sets up a loaded Halloween Havoc. Earlier in the show, Kelani Jordan refused to defend against Sinclair, insisting the suspended Sinclair had not earned the shot and again dismissing her as Grey’s sidekick. NXT GM Robert Stone overruled her, lifted the suspension and made the title match official for October 31 in Orlando.
That is the same Jordan who ended Grey’s reign at Heatwave on August 30 by driving her into an exposed turnbuckle. Grey had won the title from Lola Vice at The Great American Bash on June 28 and held it for just over two months. She has not wrestled since.
Her absence was built into the broadcast. Commentator Vic Joseph announced the injury on the September 1 episode, and Grey was still not cleared by September 15 before a series of therapy segments carried her through recovery. Sinclair’s rampage on Jordan, which led to her suspension from NXT, grew out of that injury angle.
No in-ring return or opponent has been announced for Grey yet. With Jordan unwilling to hide her contempt for the WrenQCC, a Grey appearance at Havoc looks like a natural next step.
