La Catalina is at the WWE Performance Center this week, and she confirmed it herself with a photo from outside the Orlando facility captioned simply “Hola :)”.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported on Saturday that the Lucha Libre AAA star was expected at the Performance Center in the days that followed. There is no word yet on whether the trip leads to an NXT appearance, and neither WWE nor AAA has commented on the visit.
This carries different weight than a standard tryout. AAA has operated under the WWE banner since the 2025 acquisition, and Catalina was the first talent to cross from CMLL to AAA after that deal closed, so she is already inside the company’s ecosystem rather than auditioning to get into it.
Back In The Building That Released Her
Catalina García knows the Performance Center well. The 26-year-old Chilean was part of WWE’s August 2019 recruiting class alongside Austin Theory, and she made her television debut that November on Raw as a masked valet named Carolina, accompanying Sin Cara in a mixed tag loss to Andrade and Zelina Vega.
She worked Main Event and NXT over the next two years, rebranding as Katrina Cortez at NXT New Year’s Evil in January 2021. WWE released her that November.
Catalina spent the years after her release in CMLL before leaving the promotion earlier this year, thanking the company publicly once the move was done. Her AAA arrival came on April 11, when she crashed Flammer’s Reina de Reinas Championship celebration in Mexico City, smashed the champion’s face into a cake and posed with the belt.
That feud has carried her run ever since. Catalina got her shot at Verano de Escándalo on August 8, a three-way for the title against Flammer (c) and Lady Shani, but the champion dumped her out of the ring in the closing seconds and pinned Shani to retain. Catalina has still never been beaten for the championship.
