The back-and-forth over Bayley’s WWE contract status has a new data point, and it suggests her return is more locked in than recent reports indicated.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bayley essentially agreed to terms with WWE a few weeks ago, around the same time the company started mentioning her on television again during her absence.
However, as of this report, she still has not formally signed a new deal, though one is expected to be finalized.
The other big story was the return of Bayley. Bayley had pretty much agreed to terms a few weeks ago, when they started mentioning her on television.
She has not signed a new deal but that is expected to happen. But obviously they believe strongly enough that she will that they brought her back.
That timeline lines up with Dave Meltzer’s earlier observation that WWE’s repeated on-air mentions of Bayley while she was off television were a signal the company still planned on bringing her back.
It also creates some tension with a separate PWInsider report stating no contract talks had taken place recently, though “agreed to terms” and “signed” are different stages of a deal, which may explain the discrepancy between reports.
Bayley made her return on the September 7 episode of Raw, inserting herself into Lyra Valkyria’s Money in the Bank qualifying triple threat and attacking Valkyria after the match. She’d been written off television in July after Valkyria beat her at Saturday Night’s Main Event and attacked her afterward.
With her story against Valkyria now back underway and a new deal reportedly just a matter of paperwork, Bayley’s WWE future looks to be heading toward a resolution soon.
