WWE star Logan Paul saw Conor McGregor’s failed UFC 329 comeback as more than a punchline. He turned it into a business pitch to WWE management, texting his boss to ask for permission to fight the sidelined MMA star in a crossover spectacle. Paul made the revelation on the latest episode of his ImPaulsive podcast.
Paul argued that McGregor’s current WWE involvement makes him fair game, framing a potential bout as a marquee attraction between two of the promotion’s biggest names.
I texted my boss after Conor lost. I was like, ‘Bro, Conor is cooked, do something with it. Make a bag, let me fight him. Big WWE star versus big WWE star, cause that’s what he is now,'” Paul said.
He acknowledged the request is a long shot.
“I don’t think WWE will let me fight anyone,” Paul added, noting McGregor is “incapable of fighting” while dealing with his own physical setback.
Paul also pointed to McGregor’s history of taking shots at WWE, including a recent tweet aimed at Roman Reigns.
The proposed matchup remains speculative. Any crossover fight between a contracted WWE performer and a UFC fighter would require formal negotiations between the two promotions and athletic commission approval, and no such process has been confirmed. Paul’s text to management reads as early internal interest rather than a booked bout.
Logan Paul’s Own Recovery Continues
The irony is that Paul is in no position to fight anyone right now either. He is recovering from a torn left triceps suffered on May 23, 2026, during a World Tag Team Championship defense alongside Austin Theory against The Street Profits on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
WWE announced the injury and said Paul would be out for months. He underwent surgery, with doctors projecting roughly a six-month recovery. Paul, a member of The Vision stable with Theory and Bron Breakker, has since insisted he is well ahead of that timeline.
You can track more on his rehab in Paul’s comments that his triceps recovery is months ahead of schedule. His initial reaction to McGregor’s UFC 329 defeat, where he floated a boxing angle, is covered in Paul’s earlier mockery of the loss.
As of now, WWE has not medically cleared the former United States Champion or announced a date for his in-ring return.
