At Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising, Nikki Storm (formerly WWE’s Nikki Cross) was originally slated to challenge Gisele Shaw for the MLP Women’s Canadian Championship. Just two weeks before the event, however, came a major shift in plans.
On last night’s episode of MLP Mayhem, Gisele Shaw defended the MLP Women’s Canadian Title against Priscilla Kelly. In the closing moments, Shaw looked to nail Kelly with a shining wizard. Instead, she found herself falling face-first into the mat, then blasted with a running forearm from her challenger. The latter allowed Kelly to secure the pinfall and become the brand-new MLP Women’s Canadian Champion.
With her victory, Kelly will now defend the title against Nikki Storm at Northern Rising, which is set for October 3 inside Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, formerly known as the Maple Leaf Gardens. Shaw’s inaugural reign, meanwhile, comes to an end at over 400 days. Earlier this week, “The Quintessential Diva” confirmed that she had signed with National Wrestling Alliance.
Elsewhere at MLP Northern Rising, Adam “Edge” Copeland will wrestle a rare non-AEW match when he takes on former TNA World Champion Steve Maclin. After recently being cleared to compete once more, MLP Canadian Champion Josh Alexander will defend his respective title against Stu Grayson, the interim champion.
AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo will also be in action as he faces Rohan Raja. 1st Faction will put the MLP Tag Team Championships on the line against The Grizzled Young Veterans and Sinner & Saint in a three-way dance.
