Mercedes Moné has revealed that her younger sister, Alexis, passed away in September.
Moné shared the news in her Moné Mag newsletter, writing that September was an incredibly hard month and that the loss is still difficult to talk about. She said Alexis was young and left behind two young children.
One memory keeps coming back to Moné: going to WrestleMania in Atlanta with her sister when they were younger.
“Wrestling has been such a huge part of my life, and I love that I have that memory with my sister from before so many of my own dreams came true,” Moné wrote.
She also recalled 2020, when Alexis helped her care for their mother. “I will always be grateful for that,” Moné said.
Moné closed the tribute by saying she is still trying to make sense of the loss. “I wish Alexis had more time. I wish her children had more time with their mom. I’m still trying to understand how somebody so young can be gone.”
The AEW star retained the AEW Women’s World Championship over Thekla at WrestleDream last month.
SEScoops sends its condolences to Moné, Alexis’ children and the entire family.
