A UFC star is coming to NXT.
Former Bellator Lightweight World Champion Michael Chandler recently posted a video addressed to NXT officials. The current UFC star offered to keep order in the announced Unsanctioned match between Cruz Montana and Dion Lennox set for next week.
NXT General Manager Robert Stone has now made it official. In a video posted on X late Friday, October 30, Stone said it is “set in stone” that Chandler will be the special guest enforcer for the Unsanctioned match on Wednesday:
Chandler replied on X, “It’s set in stone!!!! Not a better man for the job…no one is more unsanctioned than me.”
Stone had first responded to Chandler’s offer earlier that day, writing “Your making this too easy for me @MikeChandlerMMA”:
The NXT booking comes during a rough stretch inside the Octagon. MMA News breaks down Michael Chandler’s WWE NXT role after four straight UFC losses, including his first-round knockout loss to Mauricio Ruffy at the White House in June.
Next week’s episode of NXT will be airing on Wednesday, November 4, instead of its usual Tuesday night slot to avoid competition from the United States midterm elections. This means that the show will be going head-to-head with the Blood & Guts special of AEW Dynamite, however.
Apart from the match between Montana and Lennox, next week’s NXT episode will feature the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. Cody Rhodes is expected to appear in person to present the trophy to the winning team.
Not only that, but WWE has also announced that John Cena will be appearing on the show. Now Chandler’s addition as enforcer is the company’s latest move to get an edge against the competition.
