Mistico is set to return to the ring on August 2, ending a more than two-week absence caused by a knee sprain.
CMLL announced that Mistico will team with Templario against Austin Aries and Douki at Arena Mexico. It will be his first match since July 17, when he suffered the injury during a CMLL show at the same venue.
Mistico, the reigning CMLL World Light Heavyweight Champion, works a dual contract with AEW and CMLL. His absence forced Tony Khan to pull him from AEW Redemption, where Khan had planned to use him in a number one contender’s match for the AEW International Championship.
Khan Still Hoping For Grand Slam Mexico

Khan said at the time he hoped Mistico would be ready for AEW Grand Slam Mexico on August 5. Mistico has not yet been announced for a match on that show, but he is now cleared to compete following his August 2 CMLL return.
Mistico’s win over MJF at last year’s Grand Slam Mexico made him one of the promotion’s biggest crossover stars in the market, and a healthy return sets up the possibility of another marquee AEW appearance just three days after his CMLL match.
