MLW crowned a new women’s champion at its Fightland 2026 taping in Charleston, South Carolina on Saturday, September 12, with Masha Slamovich beating Shotzi Blackheart for the MLW World Women’s Featherweight Championship on her first night with the promotion.
The show ran at Festival Hall in downtown Charleston and doubled as a taping block for MLW Fusion. None of it has aired yet, so everything below is spoiler territory.

Slamovich Walks Out With The Belt
Slamovich hit the Fusion block by interrupting a Shotzi Blackheart promo, which set up the title match she went on to win. Blackheart had held the championship since a February taping in Cicero, Illinois that aired on Fusion in June, when she took it from Shoko Nakajima.
The women’s division was supposed to look different this weekend. MLW announced Tessa Blanchard on September 1 with Blackheart named as her target, but Blanchard was pulled from advertising after CMLL stated publicly that she had only agreed to work the one date.
Aries Takes The Opera Cup
Austin Aries won the 2026 Opera Cup by beating Matt Riddle in the final, capping a night where he also lost a Fightland tag match alongside Mistico to Killer Kross and Josh Bishop. Kross has held the MLW World Heavyweight Championship since winning Battle Riot VIII in January.
One result the reports did not clear up: Joe Coffey’s Southern Crown Championship match against CJ Gallows. Trevor Lee was billed as the reigning champion in MLW’s own September 1 press release, and neither PWInsider nor @gascaf88 specified whether the title changed hands.
What’s Next
Fusion airs free on Saturday nights on YouTube and Veeps, with an additional Monday stream on NJPW World. MLW has not announced an air date for the Fightland special, which was taped last but is slated to air before the Fusion episodes from this block.
The attendee report also noted MLW’s next Charleston taping is set for April 10, 2027. The promotion moved its headquarters to the city in late 2025 and has sold out every event it has run there.
