Paul Wight Names The AEW Star With Money Written On Him

Paul Wight says Kyle Fletcher has money written on him, two days before Fletcher and Will Ospreay meet in Blood and Guts ahead of their Full Gear title match.

Paul Wight thinks Kyle Fletcher is headed for the top of AEW, and he said so two days before Fletcher walks into the Blood and Guts cage in Jacksonville.

Appearing live on News4JAX’s Going Ringside with Scott Johnson on Monday morning, Wight named Fletcher as the AEW talent he sees “huge big star potential” in, then ran through the reasons.

“He checks every box: interview ability, wrestling ability, tenacity, aggression, his attitude for the industry, his willingness to work hard,” Wight said. “I look at that guy, he’s got money written on him.”

Wight’s Two Picks Meet At Full Gear

The other name Wight singled out is the man Fletcher is chasing. Asked who impresses him most right now, Wight said Will Ospreay “does one hell of a job,” adding, “Will Ospreay is absolutely amazing to watch.”

Those two are on a collision course. After beating Jack Perry on the October 28 Fright Night Dynamite, Fletcher challenged Ospreay, and AEW quickly confirmed Fletcher will challenge Ospreay for the AEW World Championship at Full Gear on Saturday, November 14 in Phoenix.

Ospreay won the title from Kenny Omega at All In in August. Fletcher left that same show without gold after Kazuchika Okada took the AEW International Championship from him in a three-way match that also included Konosuke Takeshita.

Full Gear will be Fletcher’s second shot at the world title. He lost to Hangman Adam Page at All Out 2025 in a match that went 38 minutes. His history with Ospreay runs back to their days together in United Empire: Fletcher beat him at Full Gear 2024, and Ospreay won their most recent singles meeting inside a steel cage at Revolution 2025.

Blood And Guts Comes First

Before Phoenix, the two land on opposite sides of Wednesday’s men’s Blood and Guts match at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, live on Dynamite on TBS. Fletcher teams with Don Callis Family members Kazuchika Okada, Wardlow, Kevin Knight, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle. Ospreay leads Adam Copeland, Steven Borden, The Young Bucks and Darby Allin, who ran the New York City Marathon on Sunday.

Callis has billed the match as a way to soften up the champions for his family heading into Full Gear. Borden’s return to the babyface side came after he stopped Don Callis Family interference on Fright Night Dynamite.

Wight has felt Fletcher’s aggression up close. They were on opposite sides of an eight-man Street Fight on the November 15, 2023 Dynamite, with Wight teaming with Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi against Fletcher, Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs and Brian Cage.

Breaking talent down is now part of his job. Wight said AEW TV producer Mike Mansury told him to approach commentary like Troy Aikman: “Just tell us why they’re doing it.” Wight explained that he tries to describe what’s going on in the talent’s mind, because on the announce desk “it’s always about featuring the talent.”
