Ryan Garcia’s turn alongside The Judgment Day on Monday’s Raw has drawn a heavily negative response from wrestling fans, with much of the criticism aimed at WWE rather than at the angle itself.
The WBC welterweight champion emerged from the crowd during the Joe Hendry and Danhausen concert segment at the Intuit Dome, cracked a guitar across Hendry’s back, and posed with Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh once they had cleared the ring. We covered the full segment and Garcia’s Zuffa Boxing ties here.
YouTube stopped showing public dislike counts in 2021, but third-party trackers logged roughly 5,400 dislikes against 4,200 likes on the official upload of the segment. The most upvoted comment framed it as the kind of segment you would least want a wrestling-skeptic friend to catch you watching.
Why The Booking Drew Heat
Criticism centered on Garcia’s conduct in July 2024, when he used racial slurs against Black people during a livestreamed X Space, said he wanted to bring George Floyd back to life and kill him again, and made disparaging remarks about Muslims.
The World Boxing Council expelled him within a day. Oscar De La Hoya, his promoter at the time, condemned the comments publicly, and Garcia’s family issued a statement saying the remarks did not reflect how he was raised. Garcia apologized across a run of social media posts, cited substance abuse, and said he was entering rehab.
There is an added wrinkle in his current standing. The WBC threw Garcia out of the organization in 2024. He walked into Raw on Monday holding its welterweight championship, which he won from Mario Barrios in February.
What It Sets Up
The attack existed to build Danhausen against Dominik Mysterio at SummerSlam. Later in the night, Adam Pearce informed Danhausen that the bout would carry a Human Monies on a Pole stipulation.
SummerSlam 2026 runs August 1 and 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Our full two-night card breakdown is here.
WWE has not commented on the reaction, and nothing has been announced about whether Garcia returns to television after the weekend.
