Xia Brookside has gone from Léi Y?ng Lee’s tag partner to the most dangerous threat to her championship, and now the Knockouts World Title will be the final word in their falling-out. TNA has set the two former allies on a collision course at Slammiversary on June 28 at Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts.
The rivalry was built on a turn, a pinfall, and a very public challenge. Brookside reportedly betrayed Lee at Rebellion, then twisted the knife by pinning the champion in a Champions Challenge match on May 28 to earn her title shot.
The bout was made official on the June 4 episode of Thursday Night iMPACT. Lee was working a non-title intergender match against Mr. Elegance when Brookside got up from commentary and distracted her former partner, a distraction that cost Lee the match.
Afterward, Brookside climbed into the ring, stood over Lee, and announced that she will challenge her for the Knockouts World Championship at Slammiversary. With the title now on the line, the former partners have a stage to settle everything.
