Will Ospreay has officially joined forces with the very faction that brutalized him, aligning with Jon Moxley’s Death Riders on the July 1, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite. Just days after the Death Riders helped him capture the Owen Hart Foundation Cup, Ospreay embraced the group.
This new chapter of Will’s career adds a whole new dynamic to his return to Wembley Stadium. Ospreay already holds a world title opportunity for All In, and now he does so with the official backing of one of AEW’s most aggressive factions.
How The Alliance Came Together
The July 1 episode opened with footage of a backstage segment between Renee Paquette and Ospreay following his Forbidden Door victory. After that conversation, Ospreay came face-to-face with Moxley, and the Death Riders leader offered him a spot in the group.
The turn played out later in the night. Ospreay and Moxley teamed to defeat The Twist (Blake Christian and Lee Johnson), and during the match a visual showed Ospreay wearing the faction’s patch on his gear.
Ospreay’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament win was the direct catalyst for the recruitment. The Death Riders had put him out of action with a brutal attack at the 2025 Forbidden Door before helping him complete his tournament run at this year’s event, setting the table for the alignment.
AEW Confirms The Turn
The change in Will Ospreay’s gear was highlighted by the commentary team after the Death Riders’ victory on Dynamite, making his status as the newest member of the faction official:
MJF currently holds the AEW World Title but he will have his own obstacles to face before the event set for August 30. One such obstacle will see him defending his title in a big stipulation match next week. You can check out more about it here.
