Will Ospreay Reaches Owen Hart Cup Final On AEW Dynamite

ByMike ReichlinProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Will Ospreay is going to the Owen Hart Cup Final. In the main event of the June 3 AEW Dynamite from Richmond, Ospreay survived a chaotic Don Callis Family ambush to beat AEW National Champion Mark Davis in the men’s tournament semifinal.

The match was a hard-hitting back-and-forth before it spilled into all-out interference. Davis controlled long stretches with his power, hitting a superplex and a release suplex onto the announce desk, while Ospreay countered with a Styles Clash that Davis kicked out of and a series of Hidden Blades.

Things broke down after Davis accidentally took out referee Paul Turner. Trent Beretta and El Clon ran in on Ospreay, drawing out Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta to even the odds. From there it became a full ringside brawl involving Lance Archer, Claudio Castagnoli, Brian Cage, PAC, and Jake Doyle, with the Callis Family and Death Riders eventually fighting to the back.

Kyle Fletcher then attacked Ospreay from behind with a half-and-half suplex and pulled out a screwdriver, only for AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita to drag him out and brawl with him around ringside.

Back in the ring, Davis grabbed the screwdriver, but Ospreay knocked it loose with a Hidden Blade and followed with another. With substitute referee Bryce Remsburg now counting, Ospreay locked in Death Ground and forced Davis to tap.

The win sends Ospreay to the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final and denies Don Callis a clear path to the All In: London main event he had been chasing. It also continues the simmering tension between Ospreay, Fletcher, and Takeshita that ran through the entire closing stretch.

AEW Collision airs this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and HBO Max from the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.
