Will Ospreay will open tonight’s AEW Dynamite in his first appearance since winning the AEW World Championship.
AEW announced the segment on its social channels Wednesday afternoon, confirming the new champion kicks off the broadcast from the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas. Dynamite airs at 8/7c on TBS and HBO Max.
Ospreay beat Kenny Omega for the title in the main event of AEW All In at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, winning a world championship for the first time in his career. Omega kicked out of Ospreay’s Stormbreaker and of his own One Winged Angel before a final Hidden Blade finished it, with both men bleeding by the end.
He has not spoken on AEW television since. The reaction from the locker room has already started without him, with Ricochet making his feelings about the win clear in the days after the show.
There is also a challenger waiting. Andrade El Idolo won the Men’s Casino Gauntlet at All In and holds a guaranteed future shot at the AEW World Championship, so Ospreay’s first night as champion arrives with the next match already half-booked.
All In produced several new titleholders alongside him. Mercedes Moné beat Willow Nightingale for the AEW Women’s World Championship, Darby Allin took the AEW TNT Championship from Kevin Knight in a Falls Count Anywhere match, and Kazuchika Okada won the AEW International Championship in a three-way with Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita.
Moné holds a championship celebration on tonight’s show, and Swerve Strickland teams with Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed to defend the AEW World Trios Championship against The Rascalz. The full Dynamite lineup is here.
