WWE is set to present its next Worlds Collide special in just a few hours. Tonight’s show will bring a significant change as this will be the first WWE-AAA special that fans have to wait to see because it is not airing live.
The sixth Worlds Collide special under the WWE banner will be held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, while AEW is 20 miles away at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL for its eighth annual All Out pay-per-view. Rumors began to swirl earlier this week on broadcast plans for Worlds Collide: Chicago, with sources indicating that there were no plans to air this as a live event, and that WWE commentary teams would be making the trip to Chicago this weekend.
In an update, WWE has announced that Worlds Collide will air on a tape delay via the WWE YouTube channel on Wednesday, September 30 at 7pm ET. It was also confirmed that English and Spanish commentary streams will be available. The show is still being taped tonight at the Allstate Arena.
AEW may have caught a bit of a break when it comes to streaming competition for tonight’s All Out pay-per-view, but the company still has to deal with Worlds Collide: Chicago. Instead of airing up against All Out, the Worlds Collide YouTube stream will now air partially up against AEW Dynamite. The post-All Out episode is scheduled for the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
New matches were also confirmed for Worlds Collide: Chicago. In a non-wrestling segment announced for the show, WWE has booked Oba Femi for Worlds Collide: Chicago. The RAW Superstar is being touted for a special appearance, but it remains to be seen if he will get physical.
WWE will crown a new #1 contender to Rey Fenix and his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship at Worlds Collide. AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio announced that he and his fellow WWE GMs linked up to book a Fatal 4 Way with Axiom vs. Mini Vikingo vs. Je’Von Evans vs. EK Prosper. The winner will earn a future title shot from Fenix, who dethroned Laredo Kid on May 30 to begin his second reign with the strap.
AAA has also announced a big eight-man tag team match for Worlds Collide: Chicago. Mr. Iguana, La Parka, Mascarita Sagrada and Adelicious will team up to do battle against Brad Baylor, Mini Abismo Negro, Ricky Smokes, and Myka Lockwood.
WWE currently has seven matches and one segment announced for Worlds Collide. The following card is being advertised:
