Zilla Fatu shut down the “nepo baby” chatter on WWE NXT this week, firing back directly at Grayson Waller days before the two collide in a fatal four-way for the NXT Championship at Heatwave.
Waller had spent the week mocking Fatu’s family ties on social media, most recently claiming Fatu had a “nympho baby” hoodie for sale, a jab at the wrong word Fatu used during his debut promo. Fatu didn’t dodge it on NXT. “I’m not just another nepo baby, nympho baby, Bloodline baby,” he said, adding that his social media numbers and in-ring impact speak for themselves.
Waller mocked the response anyway, and the go-home segment for Heatwave fell apart from there. During the show’s contract-signing summit, Tony D’Angelo, Waller and Cruz Montana broke into a brawl, with Montana taking out several security guards before the fight spilled outside the ring. Fatu stormed in to clean house with a flying crossbody and posed with the NXT Championship as the crowd chanted his name.
The exchange is the latest chapter since Fatu was accused of getting handed a title opportunity before wrestling a single WWE match. He debuted on the August 11 episode of NXT by attacking Waller and Montana mid-match, and his contract stipulated his first bout would be for the title, upgrading what was originally a triple threat main event into a fatal four-way.
